Review: Joe Vampire: The Afterlife By Steven Luna

Synopsis and Cover from Goodreads:

"So…yeah. It’s me again. America’s most sarcastic vampire.

I’m back on the blog. It’s been a while – about a year, if we need to get into specifics. Which I usually do. It’s just a thing with me.

A lot has happened since we last chatted – some good, some bad. All worthwhile, in the grand scheme. I’ve dealt with the whole Living Dead thing long enough now to know how to keep it from taking over my life. What I’m still figuring out is how to keep it from wreaking havoc on everyone else’s lives. It’s a roller coaster, for sure, but I’m convinced that waiting for me somewhere on the other side of the Other Side is a real-life life, not just some artificially-sweetened half-life substitute. I want a family. I want my music.

I want the dream come true, not the dream fell through.

And I’m determined to have it, regardless of how eternal this afterlife thing might be. But it’s a hell of a lot to keep track of. Barring any unforeseen developments that might undo all my vampirosity, I may have to grow up a little in order to get it all to work out. I’m ready for that, though.

As fun as it might seem to hang with the Lost Boys, I can’t be Peter Pan-pire forever."

My Review:

I give this book a big 5 out of 5, a must read.
I once again found that I couldn't put this book down, I had to keep reading even if that meant walking around my house with my ereader, so I did just that!
My favourite sarcastic, snarky vampire has re-opened his blog!
Once again Steven Luna' writing is fantastic and I am still drawn into the story from the start. The sarcasm, metaphors, puns and oversharing are all present. There is more sarcasm from Joe and there is more trouble brewing too for both Joe and the people he loves.
Steven Luna has done a great job of making the characters grow and develop especially with Joe and Hube. Both Joe and Hube find themselves facing new challenges that take them down some very different paths. Joe finds that once again he his faced with all sorts of problems both human and vampire related.
Again the way the book is written still made me think that it was real and being written by a vampire (yes, I know, vampires don't exist).

I can't wait for the next instalment to see just what Steven Luna and life have in store for Joe and his nearest and dearest.

My Favourite Quote (location 2934, kindle)

"She was a regular fucking Vamptopussy, this one."

This is my favourite quote purely because it made me laugh so much; probably just my sense of humour! Also when I read this I was sat in my Local car dealership showroom waiting for my car and I burst out laughing, I looked up only to find that EVERYONE was staring at me!

My honest opinion is that both the Joe Vampire books are definitely worth a read and I would recommend them; I already have to a couple of my friends!
