Review: Waiting For Prince Harry by Aven Ellis

Twenty-four-year-old Kylie Reed has always been a rule follower. Organized and cautious to a fault, her dreams for life are often filed away for future use—when she has a house, when she meets her future husband, when she has been at her visual display job at a chic Dallas boutique longer...Kylie always has a reason for living her life in the future, not in the present, and not living her life to the fullest and reaching her dream of becoming a fashion designer.

The only exception to rules, of course, would be running away with Prince Harry—Kylie’s ideal man. A hot, fun ginger boy would be worth breaking all the rules for, of course. And Kylie is sure Harry just needs the right, centering woman to settle him down. But living in Dallas and not knowing Prince Harry make this a non-option.

Or does it?

Because when Kylie accidentally falls into the lap of a gorgeous ginger boy—yes, even more gorgeous than the real Prince Harry—all bets are off. Could this stranger be the one to show Kylie how to take a chance, to face her fears, and live in the present? And could this stranger be the Prince Harry she has been waiting for? Kylie’s life takes some unexpected twists and turns thanks to this chance encounter, and she knows her life will never be the same because of it...

My 5* Review-

Disclaimer: I received this book direct from Aven in exchange for nothing more than an honest review.

Meet Kylie Reed.

Kylie is a 24 year old designer for a Boutique in Boston. She’s got a crush on Price Harry and enjoys spending time by herself dreaming and designing her future. She avoids confrontation, she just wants a quiet life, or so she thinks! ;) She also has a habit of filling out life/personality quizzes in magazines. Even after all the quizzes she’s completed not one ever told her the chance of finding the man of her dreams (well as good as), by falling into his lap; Literally!!

But that said can his man who’s lap she landed on be the man of her dreams? (If Kylie don’t want him I’m pretty sure there will be plenty of readers who would take him off her hands)!! Will her fantasies on Prince Harry be put on ice??

Right from the start Waiting For Prince Harry had me, I was sucked into this flirty, fun, addictive and feel good book. Even more so upon the arrival of Harrison!! ;)

I found that I could relate to Kylie in that she was a homebody, she would rather be at home sewing, designing and baking not out clubbing and partying until all hours. (I’m more a stay at home reading, blogging and cooking kinda girl)! Kylie is always planning for her future; but her future never seems to arrive, until Harrison!!

At her brother and Candace’s wedding reception, Kylie is feeling a little suffocated by her mother’s constant nagging at her, so she sneaks off to another one of the bars; a quieter one. An incident with someone else’s foot and her dress causes her to throw her drink all over a stranger as she falls into his lap!! And what a stranger he his!! *swoon*

Harrison... Up to this point red/ginger haired guys have never been my type, but after meeting Harrison I may be tempted to change my mind!! Harrison is sooo.... Wow...!!! He is the perfect gentleman, he’s charming, funny and sexy as hell. He also turns out to be.... (you’ll have to read it yourself to find that out)!!

There is an undeniable chemistry between them immediately and I could feel it coming out the pages. Aven has kept their interactions smart, witty and flirty. Their relationship grows bit by bit. They begin to face everyday problems that most couples experience. Then they must face some bigger more high profile problems too, which for this couple come as standard!

Waiting For Prince Harry made me smile and giggle, at times I felt very nervous too over things that were happening! For me this is a story of love and their desire to be better people together. Aven has made it a fun, feel good, witty and highly addictive journey filled with emotion and care.

Once I started Waiting For Prince Harry I knew that I had to keep reading for as long as possible! I’m definitely looking forward to Aven’s next book. I also liked how Aven had put some references to her book Connectivity in this story too.

If your looking for a feel good romance then I strongly recommend reading Waiting For Prince Harry!

About Aven Ellis-

Aven Ellis has been writing fiction since she was sixteen. She studied communications at a large Midwestern university, and after graduation, Aven worked as a reporter for a community newspaper, followed by a stint at a public relations agency.

But writing about city council meetings and restaurant franchises was not as much fun as writing for young women trying to figure out their careers and potential boyfriends. So Aven got herself a job in television that allowed her to write at night. Connectivity is Aven’s debut novel; Waiting For Prince Harry and Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista (New Adult romantic comedy) will be published next year.

Aven lives in Dallas with her family. When she is not writing, Aven enjoys shopping, cooking, connecting with friends on social media, and watching any show that features Gordon Ramsay.

Review: Oracle Of Philadelphia by Elizabeth Corrigan

*Synopsis from Goodreads, Cover from publisher

Carrie works at a diner in South Philadelphia, dispensing advice to humans and angels wise enough to seek her counsel. But there are some problems that even the best advice can’t solve.

Her latest supplicant, Sebastian, is unique among those who have sought her aid. He sold his soul to a demon in exchange for his sister’s life, but his heart remains pure.

Carrie has lived for millennia with the knowledge that her immortality is due to the suffering of others, and she cannot bear to see another good man damned when it is within her power to prevent it.

In order to renegotiate his contract, Carrie must travel into the depths of hell and parley with the demons that control its pathways. As the cost of her journey rises, Carrie must determine how much she is willing to sacrifice to save one good soul.

My Review-

The Oracle; Carrie, owns a diner in Philadelphia. She disguises her oracle abilities by keeping a psychic around her diner. Carrie is also immortal and soulless! Her soul was sold in a deal made by someone else many years ago, the deal was her soul in exchange for immortality. Over the years Carrie has forged friendships with an Angel; Gabriel and a demon; Bedlam.

She’s in the diner one day when Sebastian walks in and says he’s looking for the oracle. After listening to Sebastian’s deal; his soul for his sister’s life, Carrie decides to try and help him. To find the demon that holds Sebastian’s contract involves some dangerous trips into Hell.

I enjoyed reading The Oracle of Philadelphia. Due to the amount information being given surrounding the character relationships and the world building I found the start to be a little slow, but the pace does pick up and when it does the slightly slower start was soon forgotten as I was sucked deeper into the world with Carrie!

Elizabeth Corrigan uses flashbacks to show the background information surrounding Carrie and how it ties in to the current situation. There is a fair amount of jumping back and forth between Carrie’s past and present, but Elizabeth has done this well so it limits the confusion.

The characters are all well thought out. I like Carrie and did enjoy reading about her life. I found Bedlam to be amusing, his personality brings a spot of humour to the story and for that alone he is my favourite at the minute.

Overall The Oracle of Philadelphia is well written and crafted. The story is different and interesting. I’m looking forward to giving book two a read!!

If you enjoy fantasy books complete with Angels and Demons I recommend giving this a blast.

About The Author-

Elizabeth Corrigan has degrees in English and psychology and has spent several years working as a data analyst in various branches of the healthcare industry. When she’s not hard at work on her next novel, Elizabeth enjoys singing, reading teen vampire novels, and making Sims of her characters.

She drinks more Diet Coke than is probably optimal for the human body and is pathologically afraid of bees. She lives in Maryland with two cats and a purple Smart Car.

Review: Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Threat from the Past by Paul Cude

Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Threat from the Past is an adventure story children and adults alike will love, about the present day world in which dragons disguised as humans have infiltrated the human race at almost every level, to guide and protect them.

Three young dragons in their human guises become caught up in an evil plot to steal a precious commodity, vital to the dragon community. How will the reluctant hero and his friends fare against an enemy of his race from far in the past?

Fascinating insights into the dragon world are interspersed throughout the book. Ever wondered how dragons travel below ground at almost the speed of sound? Or how they use magical mantras to transform their giant bodies into convincing human shapes?

In an action packed adventure that features both human and dragon sports, you'll get a dragon-like perspective on human social issues and insight into what to do if you meet a giant spider grinning at you when you're wearing nothing but your smile!

You'd be flamin' mad to miss it.

My Review-

Disclaimer: I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review, nothing more, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

In Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Threat from the Past we meet Peter Bentwhistle. Peter is a dragon/human; he is a dragon who can shift into a human. Peter lives amongst the other dragons in a society hidden from humans. He stumbles upon a plot that could destroy the dragon/human relationship as evil forces try to impose their will.

This book for me was a great take on dragons. I love how Paul has come up with the idea of a Dragon society that is hidden from humans but is also helping to guide humanity; as it evolves and progresses. I found this to be an interesting perspective. I also like how the dragons can shift into human form so that they can mingle with other humans.

Paul has done a great job of creating some fantastic dragon lands, it seems quite clear that Paul has spent time and effort creating detail. The adventure is both believable and entertaining too. There is a great cast of characters, and the antagonist; Manson, plays his part well, even I didn't like him!

I enjoyed reading this book it was a refreshing change in both Paul's take on dragons and from my current reading pile.

I think that Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Threat from the Past will appeal to both adults and younger readers too, even more so if your a lover of dragons.

About The Author-

Paul Cude was born in Southampton, Hampshire in 1968. As a small child he moved to Salisbury, and as a much older child (12) developed a fanatical interest in playing hockey - something he is still obsessed about to this very day, or so his eldest daughter claims, as she’s dragged to hockey training on cold, winter Sunday mornings. A photocopier, fax and printer engineer up until 8 years ago, redundancy allowed him the privilege of becoming a full time house husband, watching and shaping his two fantastic children as they progress in life. Married to a beautiful wife, he likes nothing more than days out with her and the children. On the odd occasion that free time presents itself, he likes playing hockey, taking computers apart (sometimes even putting them back together again, occasionally successfully) and of course, writing.

Paul says, “The completion of this book wouldn’t have come about if not for the patience and understanding of my wife and two children. If not for them I would have failed at least a dozen times over. My wife particularly deserves thanks for her hard work, dedication and enthusiasm, and for putting up with me asking her all sorts of silly questions at all sorts of silly times of the day and night. Rachel, Jaina and Poppy, thank you. I’m the luckiest man alive to have such a wonderful wife and children. I love you with all of my heart.”

Since the start of 2011, Paul has been working in a wonderful school as a Teaching Assistant, a job he enjoys more than any he has ever had. He hopes to continue in this role for a very long time.

Review: Complication by Katie Salidas

So Today I'm sharing my love of the fantastic author Katie Salidas. Complication is the second book in the Chronicles Of The Uprising and is released on April 14th. I got my copy directly from Katie in exchange for nothing more than an honest review. I have to say I Love everything about this book!! I can't wait for book 3!!!

Narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Magistrate, Mira travels west, toward the coast. With three weakened human fugitives accompanying her, she searches for the mythical land of Sanctuary.
After encountering a pack of wolf shifters, headed by the charismatic—and brazen—Stryker, Mira learns that Sanctuary is real after all.  Caldera Grove: home of the Otherkin. Hidden in the mouth of a dormant volcano, it has protected its residents from humans since the early days following the great cataclysm. For Mira— a vampire— Caldera Grove is a land of peace; an escape from the relentless persecution of the humans who once enslaved her, and an end to the daily struggle and bloodshed of being a gladiator.
For the humans accompanying her, Caldera Grove means death. Humans, greedy and untrustworthy creatures, are destroyed before they can penetrate its borders.
To plead her case for entry into Caldera, Mira must abandon her companions, albeit temporarily, and follow Stryker into the heart of the city. What she finds within Caldera Grove presents her with an unenviable decision between her own desires for freedom and peace, or honor and the human companions who risked it all for her.

My 5* Review-

Complication sends us right back to where Dissension left us!

Mira and the 3 human companions have headed west towards the coast, in search of a place Mira isn't even sure exists. On their search for Sanctuary they run into a pack of wolf shifters. The alpha of this pack: Stryker certainly knows how to make an entrance:
"Before she could finish her sentence a lone naked man appeared from behind some large boulders and walked unabashedly toward her." (location 358 kindle).
Stryker tells Mira that indeed Sanctuary does exist and that it is the home of the Otherkin. Mira asks for sanctuary for her and her 3 companions. She is told that no humans are allowed near let alone into Sanctuary; Caldera Grove. Mira decides that she wants to plead her case to the Council of Caldera Grove, but to do this she must temporarily leave her 3 companions behind and follow Stryker into the heart of Caldera Grove.

Once there Mira has a decision to make. She must decide between her dreams of freedom and her companions who have risked everything to help her get this far. What will she choose??

I totally LOVED this book! Which is no surprise as I LOVED Dissension too.

This continued in the same manner and style as book 1, a gritty page turner. Mira is still being hunted by the humans from the Iron Gate.

The characters are growing and developing as the story unfolds.

Mira is still as ballsy as she was when we first meet her if not more so, in this instalment she seems to allow her personal boundaries to be pushed a little further. Mira appears to have a little more emotion breaking through her hard, bad-ass warrior exterior!

Lucian tries to be a little braver than he was in book 1. He doesn't appear to feature as much in this book and I'm still with holding my judgement of him for the time being. There were a couple of times in Complication when I felt that Lucian maybe harbouring some feelings for Mira.

And Stryker... Wow!!... What a man/wolf! What a way to make an entrance, he definitely made a lasting impression on me!! The mental image that my mind created from Katie's words... Yummy!!!

For me Katie has done it again, she has created and written another fantastic book which had me hooked from the synopsis. Once I begun reading the book I was pulled further and further into both Mira's mind and her world.

I can't wait for book 3!! :)

If your a fan of Katie's other books and a fan of vampire or shifter books then I strongly recommend Complication; but only AFTER you've read Dissension.

Complication for me was definitely a WHOOPING 5 STARS!!!!

The Beginning and End of It All
By Author Jena Leigh
Want to know a secret?
I rarely know what I’m doing.
When it comes to the beginnings and endings of my novels, I usually only have a vague notion of what needs to happen before the words are written.
Working on a series, it’s necessary to have at least a rudimentary outline of the overarching plot—a basic understanding of where it is your characters are headed in the subsequent novels. In truth, however, even that rickety framework of upcoming events can be twisted and reshaped as you go along.
One of my favorite things about writing is the surprise that comes along with the revelation of plot twists that I never saw coming.
As a writer, I’m what you’d call a “pantser” in that I tend to fly by the seat of my pants as I write my novels. I let my characters tell me what needs to happen, scene by scene, and do my best to let the plot evolve naturally out of their actions and decisions. I take delight in being just as surprised as my readers are by what comes next.
Because of that, I do my best to keep the framework of my series as flexible as possible. The ending of Resistance was only loosely fixed in my mind as I wrote the book—and even then, it didn’t turn out exactly as I’d planned. For me, it helps to be able to roll with the punches. When I try to write by a rigid outline, I find myself fighting to make scenes work, even if I don’t particularly like them.
Another lesson I learned early on was to write for myself. Whenever I write with a particular audience in mind, it always comes out feeling forced. If you sit down to write a novel in the hopes of pleasing everyone, more often than not, you won’t please anyone.
Write about what you like. Even if it doesn’t connect with everyone, if you write from the heart about something you enjoy, I promise your words will find their audience.

Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Jena Leigh spent ten years in the mountains of North Carolina before returning home to the lightning capital of North America. A shameless geek, she loves bad sci-fi movies, Skittles, writing cracktastic e-mails to friends and taking shenanigan-filled road trips to faraway concerts. She has a degree in English from Appalachian State University. REVIVAL is her first novel.
