Blogiversary Event Day 7: Logan Patricks

Day 7 of my Blogiversary event is spotlight time for Logan Patricks. For today's post its a simple review of both Midnight Society books; Semblance and Penumbra. With purchase links and a little about Logan and where he can be found at the end.

My Reviews-

Book #1: Semblance-

I loved this book it was definitely a high to end 2013 on and a great final book boyfriend of 2013 too! So my 5*review...

This is a fast paced, suspense driven page Turner that is mysterious, dark and beautiful. The strong and complex plot is full of mayhem, murder and conspiracy. And at the same time is a beautifully twisted love story. The unexpected twists and turns leave you wondering if anything is as it seems.

Logan Patricks had written a fantastic web of lies, betrayal, deceit and love, that as the reader we must unravel in order to find the truth. The reading experience is marvellous and heart stopping. I was drawn in from the beginning, I was so hooked that "one more sentence" became "one more page" became "one more chapter" which then turned to "I don't want to go work, I NEED to read!" I felt every last emotion depicted throughout Semblance, I became suspicious, fearful, happy, sad and angry too. I laughed, I cried and I speed at my kindle too!

All of the characters are extremely well written and developed. I adored both Aria and Shadow.

Aria, she's a broke music student, struggling to pay her way through each semester. When she plays piano at a secret event in order to earn some money; she gets more than she bargained for and ends up in the middle of The Midnight Society. Aria is strong; stronger than she gives herself credit for. She's independent and never losses sight of her life goals. She had endured sooo much pain and heart break before she even meets Shadow; is because of this that you literally hurt for her in the end.

Ah Shadow, *swoons* where to begin???

Shadow also has suffered an unimaginable tragedy but he had allowed himself to be consumed by it and by his need for revenge. He is strong but has refused to use his strength to put his ghosts behind him and as a result is a dark and brooding man. When Shadow decides to show his capability to stop being pigheaded it is breathtaking. He is fiercely protective of those he cares about, and will stop at nothing to keep them safe.

Aria and Shadow are like light and dark, Aria being the light to Shadow's dark, the chemistry and sexual tension between them was hot enough that I could practically feel my kindle burning in my hand!

Aria plays a piece of music on the piano called Breathless, a piece of music that is composed and played by Logan Patricks; I absolutely love this piece of music. Breathless can be found on Logan Patricks website Here

Semblance is an amazing book, and an incredible start to The Midnight Society series. I cannot wait for book 2. If you don't own a copy of Semblance I strongly urge you to go and grab yourself a copy.

Book #2: Penumbra-

Semblance ended with the Midnight Society destroyed. All that remained was Shadow, Lincoln and Aria. Penumbra jumps straight back in where Semblance finished.
For Shadow, Aria and Lincoln the world as they knew it has changed now. The destruction of the Society has left these 3 devastated. But now the time has come to pick up the pieces and begin to rebuild their lives.

Shadow is hell bent on getting vengeance; for his parents deaths and for the destruction of the Society. Shadow is itching to get his hands on... (yeah I'm not telling you that)! In Penumbra Shadow behaves a like a complete Ass! Don't get me wrong I really love Shadow, but in Penumbra there are times when he is just a thoroughbred dick! It's these times that make me want to slap him! His stubbornness and thirst for vengeance make him very determined and sometimes narrow minded too.

Aria is feeling heart broken, dejected and uncertain about the future. There's a part of her that wants Shadow still but I think there's a part of her that wonders what things would be like if she... All that aside Aria still hasn't lost sight of who she really is.

Lincoln has finally emerged from the shadows, in Semblance he was an intriguing character who seemed to be stalking the sidelines, well not anymore! Lincoln has grown into a serious player in this series.

There are of course more than just these 3 characters, but if I was to discuss all of them that would give away far too much of the plot! You'll just have to read Penumbra for yourself in order to meet them all!

Characters aside; Penumbra was a gripping read. I love how it followed on seamlessly from Semblance. Logan Patricks has undeniably got the knack of crafting a well plotted web of; well everything really; there's mystery and suspense, steaminess, danger and murderous intent lurking around every page!

Logan's writing style is crazy good. It grabs a hold of you from the first page and pulls you right into the middle of every twist, turn, conversation and more. Page after page I was drawn further and further into this mysterious, murderous and intense plot. I couldn't have walked away if I'd tried.

I'm really looking forward to the next installment in this series!

Disclaimer- I have purchased both of these books from Amazon UK using my own money, and I've read them for my personal enjoyment. I am writing these reviews with the hope that some of you readers will find yourselves another good series and author that you to can gain enjoyment from.

Author Bio-

Logan discovered both love and heartbreak at the tender age of seven, when the pretty little blue-eyed girl next door stole his Kit-Kat bar and shared it with the bad boy from across the street. Devastated, Logan found solace by escaping into imaginary worlds he forged with words, creating kingdoms where the chivalrous knight always got the princess.

Twenty three years later Logan spends his days in a suit and tie, working for the government on matters of network security. However his thoughts never strayed too far from the incendiary nature of love — the passionate fire that’s both scintillating and dangerous. Obsessed with exploring the steamy and mysterious side of human nature, Logan continues to create worlds filled with thrills, mystery, and of course, sex.
