Excerpt/Review: Beautifully Broken by Kira Adams

Genres: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Jacqueline Blunt hasn’t had an easy life. In fact, she’s had anything but. From a drug addicted mother to being bounced around in foster care, Jacqueline longed for one thing—normalcy. Lee Bennett had everything he could ever want—girls falling all over him, a dream job, money. The one thing he was missing? Passion.

Sometimes the ones worth fighting for don’t know their worth. Sometimes being broken is beautiful. This is a story of strength, courage, hope, faith, and love. This is Beautifully Broken.
Only 99 pennies during the blitz!

After we changed in the locker rooms, we emerged and I couldn’t stop staring at Jacqueline. Austyn had chosen the tankini, whatever that was and Jacqueline looked beautiful. Austyn had been spot on.
We started off in the shallow end. That way she could touch the ground, in turn feeling safe.
I initiated a water fight to make her feel even more secure. I had never seen her smile more.
“Okay, I’m going to need you to lie flat on your back, I’m going to teach you how to float.” Instinctively, I put my arms out in front of me.
I felt Jacqueline’s weightless body fall back onto my arms and I guided her around the pool. When we had been in the deep end for more than ten minutes, I removed my arms from underneath Jacqueline.
Her eyes were closed and by the time she realized she was alone, I was already halfway across the pool.
“Lee?” She began to kick her legs, flailing her arms, looking for me; causing her to accidentally swallow some pool water.
“Jac, I’m right here,” I said in a calming voice. “You were doing fine until you began second guessing yourself. Just kick your feet underneath you and keep your head above water.”
I swam out to her after I saw a visible change in her posture. “How you doing?”
“You’re an ass, but I’m swimming!”
“Now that’s the spirit!” I wiggled my eyebrows at her.
She wrapped her legs around my torso. “Don’t leave me again,” she murmured.
“I’m not going anywhere.” Jacqueline was my life now. I spent every waking moment apart from work wrapped up in her.
For once in my life someone had grounded me—and I liked it.
“What are you thinking about?” Jacqueline ran her fingers gently over my forehead.
“You,” I replied, honestly.
Her eyes grew wide. “What about me?”
“You’ve managed to ground me; this is the longest I’ve been in one single place in years.”
Jacqueline looked enthused. “That’s awesome.”
“That’s awesome? That’s all you have to say after I made that huge confession?” She was being modest.
“I knew you liked me more than you let on…I’ve just been waiting for you to come out and say it!” She poked me in the chest playfully.

“Oh really? I’m going to drop you in this water!” I tried to release her limbs from my body but they were hanging on for dear life.

I couldn’t help but laugh. This was us. Jacqueline was my girlfriend and I was falling hard. If I didn’t watch it I would be the one face planting in love with her much quicker than I had ever anticipated.
My player days were being put behind me and I felt relieved; I felt renewed.

~My 5* Review of Beautifully Broken~

Disclaimer: I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Jacqueline is broken, she's had a rough upbringing. Her mother is a convicted drug addict and her father; who knows! When her mother was arrested Jacqueline was taken into care, she went from foster home to foster home, until she was emancipated at the age of 15. After thinking that things couldn't get any worse she was diagnosed with Bipolar too. For Jacqueline every day is a struggle. Then she meets Lee.

Lee is the complete opposite to Jacqueline, he also seems to have just about everything; money, a job and girls practically throwing themselves at him. But Lee still feels like he's missing something, he's just not satisfied. Lee has suffered heartbreak in the past and as a result has attempted to close off his heart, he thinks that if he doesn't do relationships then he can prevent anymore pain and heartache. Then he meets Jacqueline.

Do opposites really attract? Together can they overcome they're demons and begin healing?

The synopsis for Beautifully Broken called to me. Obviously after reading My Forever I had to read this, but even before I read My Forever I knew I had to read Beautifully Broken. I was intrigued to see if or how Lee and Jacqueline might work, I mean they really are complete opposites, but they seem to bring out the best in each other too.

I have really enjoyed the fact that for these two it wasn't love at first sight, they spent time getting to know one another and built a friendship before attempting to take things further. It was also a change to see that the lead male was showing a more vulnerable side; as Lee kept backing away before realising that he needs Jacqueline.

Lee and Jacqueline's characters grow more and more with each and every bump they hit, there is a lot of give and take throughout. They certainly seem to help one another.

Kira's writing style has once again kept me captivated until the very last page. The emotion that Kira has captured and portrayed is once again wonderful, and is very real. Kira has stick with the use of multiple POV and it works incredibly well, there's never any confusion. The flow of her writing is smooth and all aspects intertwine seamlessly.

Beautifully Broken deals with some very real issues that a lot of people face and live with, I think that Kira has handled these topics fantastically and sensitively. The raw emotion have been captured and portrayed brilliantly, I felt as though I was experiencing them along with Jacqueline and Lee.

Beautifully Broken is a fantastic book full of love, hurt and anger but it also has the power to give hope too! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Beautifully Broken and I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series.

Excerpt: The Black Tower by Steven Montano

The Black Tower (The Skullborn Trilogy #3)

War returns to Malzaria in this epic conclusion to The Skullborn Trilogy.

Deep in the wastes called the Bonelands, rival crime guilds and renegade Bloodspeakers battle through the ruined streets of Corinth.  At the heart of the doomed city lies a magical portal which grants access to the dark citadel of Chul Gaerog, wherein lie the secrets of the long dead Blood Queen.

Armies amass to the south as powerful forces from the Jlantrian and Den'nari Empires make ready to clash with the monstrous Black Army and its frightful leader, the black giant called Ghul, agent of the Cabal and ally of the dreaded Iron Count.

And deep in the heart of the black tower, the dream witch Ijanna Taivorkan comes face-to-face with the dark angel Calladar, once guardian to the Blood Queen and self-appointed master of the citadel.  Only the fallen knight Azander Dane can help her survive her trials, but first he must face the demons of his past, as well as a merciless squad of Jlantrian hunters sent to destroy the woman he's sworn to protect...

Return to a world of dark magic, tainted heroes and dark plots in this action-packed sequel to City of Scars and Path of Bones.

It was hell.

All sense of reality vanished the moment she and the Dawn Knight fell through the cutgate.  Ijanna felt a brief sense of weightlessness, a moment of peace, followed by a gut-wrenching descent.  There was nothingness, above and below.  Black wind rippled against her body as she tumbled end over end into utter darkness.  There was no sound, no sight of the ground.  They fell through a void, straight into the depths of unimaginable fear.

Memories flooded Ijanna Taivorkan’s mind, a torrent of images, sounds and scents so vivid she had trouble distinguishing what was real from what wasn’t.

Her life had been filled with fear.  Her mother died when she was young, and her father understood from the start how cursed Ijanna was.  He made sure she would fulfill her destiny, that she would grow up understanding the pivotal role she was meant to play.

Allaji mystics raised her, and that life was harsh.  Buried up to her neck in sand, forced to build and then destroy and then rebuild brick walls, running back and forth on sharp stones in the glaring mid-day sun while wearing a blindfold, repeating tasks over and over until she got them right.  She sat quiet for days in front of the sunset, starved and thirsty, waiting for enlightenment.

She was alone, a half-breed, left to fend for herself by her Den’nari father, a hero of the war but a monster to her.  She was different from everyone she met, an outsider with a cursed birth.  They all understood who she was, what she was: a soiled remnant of the Blood Queen’s power, the creature meant to slay humankind so the world could heal.

Those memories flashed by.  She fell through black smoke and felt eyes on her, a dire intelligence which probed her for weaknesses.

And then it found a memory it wanted.  Ijanna felt herself drawn down, sucked into a cold, dark place.

Path of Bones (The Skullborn Trilogy #2)

Return to the world of Malzaria in the highly anticipated sequel to the best-selling epic fantasy adventure CITY OF SCARS.

Hunted by Empires and crime lords alike, Ijanna Taivorkan and the young warrior Kath Cardrezhej make their way north through the dire Bonelands, a twisted wastelands populated by unnatural terrors. Hoping to find the answers to her dark destiny and driven by a need to escape her fate, Ijanna won't rest until she locates the last of the Skullborn.

Azander Dane, fallen Dawn Knight, pursues Ijanna to help her as a way of making amends for the crimes of his past. Aided by an exiled giant and gripped by a magical disease that is slowly driving him mad, Dane must brave the dangers of the Phage-controlled city of Kaldrak Iyres in order to reach the Dream Witch in time.

Beset at every turn by evil magic, powerful assassins and dark revelations, Dane and Ijanna will ultimately find themselves in the ruined city of Corinth, where ancient artifacts may hold the key to the world's salvation...or its untimely doom.

Path of Bones is the second volume of The Skullborn Trilogy. The first volume, City of Scars, is now available; the third volume, The Black Tower, will be released in 2014.

City of Scars (The Skullborn Trilogy #1)

It’s been three decades since the Blood Queen led her legions on a brutal campaign of conquest and destruction, and the Empires are still struggling to rebuild. Now, in the distant aftermath of the war, the real battle is about to begin.

Haunted by the crimes of his past, fallen knight Azander Dane ekes out a mercenary existence as he drifts from one city to the next. His latest job is to hunt down Ijanna Taivorkan, a powerful outlaw witch desperate to escape her destiny.

Dane and Ijanna find themselves in Ebonmark, the City of Scars, where deadly crime guilds and shadowy agents of the White Dragon Empire prepare for a brutal confrontation. Pursued by apocalypse cults, mad alchemists, exiled giants and werewolf gangs, Dane and Ijanna soon learn a deadly lesson – in Ebonmark, only the cruelest and most cunning can survive.

City of Scars is the first volume of The Skullborn Trilogy, an all new epic fantasy adventure from the author of Blood Skies.

His fingers were on the sides of my head, thumbs resting at the corners of my lips where his were placed ever-so precariously as he continued, “You, Nariella, are my light. You’re the last note to my song. It will always be you. You are who I’m meant to be with. If we didn’t endure hardships to be together then we couldn’t be meant for each other. How else can we know it’s meant to be unless after walking through hell and back our love remains pure and strong? I care not of destiny or fate. I do not believe such a thing, because no matter what force may try and stop me, what may do its best to interfere, I will return to you. I will always come back to you, Nariella. Always.”
“No, you—you can’t say things like that. You can’t–” His lips were fully on mine then, cutting my opposition off mid-sentence. His fingers were sliding along my cheeks until they were tangled up in my hair. They slid downward through long strands before reclaiming their spot at the sides of my face. They stretched over the crown of my head, his thumbs left hugging tenderly to the space in front of my ears. My lips betrayed Ender’s wishes—my own wishes—clinging to Mycah’s as if thriving on his generous life-support.
Darn them.
I melted into him wholly and completely. I could think of nothing but his heart beating beneath my fingertips that were clasped around his wrists. The sweetness of his taste that enveloped my tongue; the still of his breath that he held in anticipation of my reaction to him.
And so I couldn’t help myself. I let go of my self-restraint and kissed him back with a heavy heart. A heart that was held down by the weight of the world, because this would be the last time that I ever kissed Mycah Nightly.

~My Review~

I have enjoyed this book. It's no secret that I have loved almost all the paranormal books that I've come across so far, and The Mortal One is no exception to that.

In The Mortal One we meet Dylan, Dylan is in Transylvania, why? Looking for vampires of course!! Dylan has always been intrigued by the idea that vampires exist, and now she has the opportunity to some digging into that possibility. (I would so love to do this!)

In Transylvania Dylan meets Alin; who claims to be a vampire. But when Dylan learns the truth she leaves to continue her vampire search vacation and hopes she'll have better luck in Europe.

Dylan heads to Paris, whilst in Paris she has she has the eerie feeling that someone is watching her. Unable to shake this feeling she heads off to Italy. It is in Italy where she meets Niccolo(Nico).

Nico is a vampire; 100% vampire! When Nico and Dylan meet there is some kind of connection. Nico explains his history and the history of others like him, but this is not without consequences!

Nico has to decide what to do with Dylan now she knows the truth. The question is what will he decide to do with her? What will happen when someone from Dylan's past chooses to show face again?

The characters are written well and as the story continues they grow and develop. I found them easy to like and believe, at times I had forgotten that I wasn't actually a part of the story with them.

Shannon Bell's writing style is spot on, her attention to detail adds to her story so much. Shannon Bell has managed to fill her writing with emotion, and this emotion can be felt with each page. Dylan and Nico have some rather hot scenes; these scenes are written very well too, and again depict their emotions and feelings.

For me the one thing that could have made The Mortal One even better would have been some chapters told from Nico's POV. Don't get me wrong the book works great without Nico's POV, but personally I would love to read his thoughts too.

Overall all I have thoroughly enjoyed reading The Mortal One and I would recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal, romance or paranormal romance.

Dreamcast: The Soul Thief by Majanka Verstraete

The Soul Thief (The Angel of Death Series #1)
by Majanka Verstraete
Publisher: Booktrope
Published: November 11, 2014
Genre: YA, Paranormal
When sixteen-year-old Riley is injured in a car crash and sees a girl stealing a boy’s soul, she’s convinced she’s hallucinating. But when she sees the same girl at the hospital later, she knows she wasn’t dreaming. That’s when Riley learns her secret heritage and who she really is: a halfling Angel of Death. Riley must come to terms with her new reality and supernatural abilities, but before she can do this, girls her age start dying in mysterious circumstances. It’s up to Riley to figure out why, what the innocent victims have in common, and what she can do to stop them.

Dream Cast

Taylor Momsen as Riley
Taylor Momsen would be great at playing Riley – I’m sure of that after seeing her performance on Gossip Girl. They have the same build and hair color, although Riley rarely uses make-up, and Taylor usually does. But that’s easily fixed.   dreamcast2
Toby Regbo as Leander
When I had to write down the character description for Leander, I actually looked up a picture of Toby Regbo and described him. So Leander’s looks are inspired by this actor! Then who better to play Leander than the actor who inspired his looks?   dreamcast3
Caitlin Stasey as Katie
Caitlin Stasey looks just like I imagined Katie to look, and she’s great at playing characters who have the same bubbly personality as Katie has. In the TV series “Reign”, she plays a young woman named Kenna, who’s flirty and outgoing, and she does a great job at it. Katie has the same personality traits, so I’m sure she’d be great at it.
Claire Holt as Michelle
Claire Holt looks just like Michelle, except her hair needs to be curly, but that’s easily fixed! This young actress did a great job in her role as a vampire in “The Vampires Diaries”, and I’m impressed with her talent, so I’d love it if she could play in the movie for The Angel of Death series.   dreamcast5
Zach Roerig as Craig
When I thought about who I wanted to play Craig, then I instantly thought about Matt from “The Vampire Diaries”, a character portrayed by Zach Roerig. I think this actor would do a great job playing Craig.

About the Author

By the time she finished fifth grade, she had read through the entire children’s section of her hometown library. She wrote her first story when she was seven years old, and hasn’t stopped writing since. With an imagination that never sleeps, and hundreds of possible book characters screaming for her attention, writing is more than a passion for her. She writes about all things supernatural for children of all ages. She’s tried to write contemporary novels before, but something paranormal always manages to crawl in. Majanka is currently studying for her Master of Laws degree, and hopes one day to be able to combine her passions for law and writing. When she’s not writing, reading or studying, she likes watching “The Vampire Diaries” and “Game of Thrones,” spending time with her friends, or playing “World of Warcraft.”

Release Day: Renaria by J.L. Wilson

A small memento, a universal power...

It’s the year 2126, post-World War V. Leda, age seventeen, bounds through the lush forested region of the Desintor Foothills as a regal, bow-wielding, High-Elf Scout. That is, when she’s logged into her favorite MMO game: Renaria.

One crisp fall afternoon, an unseasonal storm fractures the sky of Trinton, New Texas with splinters of emerald lightning and otherworldly songs. Oddly, no one sees the storm except her brother and their guild mate Travis.

She brushes off the event as a fluke, but she can’t seem to get the song out of her mind. Suddenly, a new quest appears in her game directing her to the blue sand dunes of the Sinare Desert to meet Caleb, a legendary Elf Diviner.

Now she has a choice: Ignore the quest and turn off the game, or dive in and risk everything for a shot at an adventure.

~Author Bio~

J.L. Wilson's interests in Sci-Fi, Fantasy and video games grew from years of watching Star Trek, thanks to her mother. During her graduate studies in anthropology she focused primarily on humans and their interaction with technology. All kinds! Language, tools, cyborgs, etc. She reads anything she can get her hands on that involve space, wizards, or video games. In her debut fantasy novel, Renaria: Into the Adyton, she sought out to weave these interests together.

When not writing or reading you can find her in World of Warcraft, FFXIV or the latest MMORPG creating new characters or exploring new quests. She's on Facebook and Twitter and currently lives in Texas with her husband, four kids (cats) and a dog

~My Review~

*Disclaimer: I received a free e-copy in exchange for an honest review as part of the RBTL Shadows On Snow Blog Tour.*

Shadows on Snow is a twist on a classic fairy tale.

Prince Leopold is handsome, with his dark hair and pale skin; he's definitely the male version of Snow White! Everyone who meets Prince Leopold instantly warms to him and likes him.

Rae is staff at Prince Leopold's castle. The story is told from Rae's POV. However there is more to Rae than meets the eye; Rae has been put at the castle to find out what is making the Queen so ill and to try and save her. But not everything goes according to plan for Rae or for Prince Leopold...

I'd give more details but you really don't want me spoiling it for when you get your own copy!! ;)

I was invited to review this book as part of a blog tour and if I'm honest I knew from its blurb I had to read it. This is the first book I've read by Starla Huchton, and I'm looking forward to discovering more of her work.

Starla's writing had me hooked from the beginning. I felt as though I had been transported into Rae and Prince Leopold's world. It was as if I was there with them experiencing and feeling everything and every emotion with them. Once ai was there I certainly didn't want to leave.

The characters are fab; they continue to develop throughout the entire book, and Starla Huchton has given enough details about them and keeps some mystery too. A prime example of this is Rae. Rae is intriguing, we know that there is something different about Rae but we don't know what until Starla decides to tell us. I felt like the addition of Prince Leopold's POV could have helped to give his character a bit more depth, also I would have loved to have known how he was thinking and feeling at times too.

The pacing is great, there's no time to get bored but it's not too fast that it becomes confusing either. Starla for me has done a fantastic job of taking a classic fairytale and completely changing it to make it her own and unique.

Shadows On Snow has been a thoroughly enjoyable read, one that I could happily read again (when I have time)! I definitely recommend giving Shadows On Snow a read and I'm looking forward to my next encounter with Starla Huchton.

“You’ve grown up much since last we met,” she said as she circled me.I closed my eyes and prepared to summon another memory for the mimicry of the evening. “Who shall I be tonight, Godmother? There was a lovely woman in the village a few weeks past that—”Her wand struck me across my nose, and I winced.“You’ll do no such thing, silly girl,” she said. “It’s a masked ball and you’re far more beautiful than you think.”My knees wobbled at the idea. “But I can’t go as my true self, Godmother. If the king sees me—”“It’s been ten years, child. He wouldn’t know you now.”Grimacing, I tried to come up with another argument, but the threat of her wand across my nose again stayed my tongue.“Now then,” she said, rolling her shoulders. “What will it be tonight? The other ladies, did you see any of their gowns before you left?”I considered it. “A few. Plenty of wintery colors there. Silvers and golds, of course, and light blue is very fashionable at the moment. None so bold as to wear red, but I imagine there will be come Yule, as it won’t be seen as an affront to the ruling house of Sericea to wear their colors then.”She paused in her pacing and scrutinized every inch of my figure. She’d done so before, but I was considerably more well-endowed than last she saw me at thirteen years. Fairies give no consideration to humanity’s discomfort with nudity, however, and so I stood there for several minutes, naked as the day I was born while she assessed my appearance.“Though a deep scarlet would suit your coloring well, I think perhaps you’re right about the potential for insult. As such, a nice emerald green will do nicely on you.” She closed her eyes and summoned her magic. Sky blue sprinkles of light rose from the ground and gathered in the air around her. Directing them all with beautiful, graceful motions, they danced in time to the soft tune she hummed under her breath. Fairy magic was unlike anything else in the world. One could not blink or even try to look away from the sight.“The memory of summer… the warmth of life in the sun… the whisper of wind through leaves… stolen kisses from a lover…” Her words were little more than gentle breaths, but echoed from every corner of the clearing. The gathered magic twirled in the air, then shifted, wrapping itself around me as a soft blanket. A stiff wind lifted my hair, spinning and weaving it as only fairy magic could. My skin prickled as it absorbed the remaining illumination.“Open your eyes, child, and see the beauty you are.”I frowned. “I do not wish for beauty, Godmother. I wish for strength.”“Strength comes in many forms. Beauty is but one.”“You’ve been speaking with Delphine, I see,” I said as I opened my eyes. Air stuck in my throat as I beheld myself in the conjured mirror before me. Indeed, I was as beautiful as she said. My plain brown hair was piled in astounding knots and waves, my cheeks flushed with a healthy glow, and my lips red as holly berries. Even my plain brown eyes were painted with swirls of green to match my dress, transforming them into something far more extraordinary. It was all I could do not to cry.I turned from the mirror, not able to bear another second of looking at myself this way. Even though I regularly wore a face not my own, this appearance, this horrifying embodiment of temptation, felt like a greater lie than any glamour I’d ever thought to put on. That reflection was not me.Gentle fingers lifted my chin, forcing me to look into my godmother’s eyes. “Of all the things you could fear, you fear yourself the most. You must not. Others cannot take this from you. Your spirit shines through any spell you weave. Own that. Be proud of it. Your true face is more than how others see you, and those that know your heart will never be fooled by your magic.” She took me by the shoulders and turned me to the mirror once more. “There is power in beauty, but there is greater power in love. That is what you see before you. Never turn away from it.”

Beyond Time

Dark Order of the Dragon Book # 2
By Sandra Bischoff

Christian Lancelot Du Lac was never one to take a situation seriously. Growing up he had always been the comedic relief to Jared Bonatelli's brooding nature. Now, just as The Dark Order welcomes Jared as its new Prince, Du Lac is informed that he must become a first in command the future King can truly rely on. When he repeatedly fails in his attempts to prove himself, Lance is thrown back in time to where his life began, Camelot. What he finds there is more than he could have bargained for.

Drawn to the forest surrounding Camelot, Lady Elizabeth Payne searches for something that seems just out of her reach. Tormented by a pair glowing eyes in the mist she steals away in the middle of the night to find their owner. Thieves, a wolf and the most infuriating savior she has ever met turn her simple world upside down. But it's the attraction she feels to the newcomer that truly takes her by surprise. Learning that he is Christian Du Lac, the long lost son of the First Knight himself peaks her curiosity even more.

Now on the cusp of meeting her betrothed for the first time, Elizabeth's heart has been claimed by another. But even a betrothal written in blood is no match for fate.

For Lance and Elizabeth, the odds are stacked against them. Their worlds are destined to remain forever apart. Can time heal all wounds or will the fates change their course and let the star crossed lovers find each other once again?

Review: The Storm by Laura Lexington

Jana Cook was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but her fierce determination leads to a successful career in medical device sales. Toss in five-star meals, fabulous sex with her nearly perfect husband, Andrew, and a gorgeous new house … and Jana’s life is picture perfect before she hits the big 3-0. What more can a girl want?

Overnight, her life begins to unravel. When Jana discovers she is pregnant, she dives from hero to zero in the eyes of Covington Company. Despite a resume most would kill for, Jana finds herself unemployed and devastated. Challenging her employer could change her life … if she wins. Does she have the strength to handle the gossip and face the likely reality of being blackballed from her industry?

As Jana struggles to make the right choice, her vivacious best friend, Grace, is convinced her own heartthrob husband, Gavin, is hiding something. Despite Jana’s best efforts to convince her that she is wrong, Grace’s mental illness overpowers reality. Jana was a superstar in scrubs, but navigating first time motherhood is real work … especially in the midst of secrets, lies, and unthinkable tragedy.

She makes her decision. And while Andrew promises to never let her fall, will love be enough to spark the bravery she needs to survive the storm that threatens to overcome her?

~My Review~

Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Jana Cook is loving her life. She's been given the chance to progress her career which means that her and Andrew; her hubby; can move back to Fairhope.

And so it begins...

Back in Fairhope with the support of friends and family; life is almost perfect. Her resume and track record with Covington Company are exemplary; and others would kill for her record. But that's just not good enough for her new boss. Jana discovers that she is pregnant, and when her boss finds out everything changes.

Jana now faces a huge decision, after Covington Company lays her off in "necessary cuts" she is devastated. But despite everything deep down Jana knows that her track record should have meant she kept her job.

The questions remain should she fight Covington Company? Can she win? Is she strong enough?

The answers...

You'll have to grab yourself a copy and have a read!! :)

The Storm has everything. Its packed full of so much emotion, from love, lust, passion, anger, hurt, fear and confusion. All of these emotions are so real.

The characters are also very realistic and believable. With each page and each event the characters grow and evolve. I also love how the secondary characters play key roles in the main plot and help to create more depth and reality.

The story is amazing, its a definite romance but it doesn't focus solely on that aspect. The story line encompasses other real life issues, like discrimination in the workplace, Bipolar Disorder, trust and intimacy issues.

Laura Lexington's writing style is fantabulous too! There is no confusion, things are explained clearly. The dialogue between the characters is realistic and believable. The emotion practically pours from the pages. I swear I felt my heart break (more than once). The pacing is is spot on; I never felt bored.

Laura had me hooked from the very start, right through until the very end. For a debut novel this is a fantastic start and certainly doesn't read as though it's Laura's first book.

I'm so please and grateful that I have been given the chance to discover this promising new author. I am now looking forward to reading Laura's next book; and Gavin's story!

A huge congratulations and well done on your debut novel Laura! I can't wait for your next book!!

A huge 5* from me! :) <3
