"Once upon a time, my life was certain: it was insignificant, and it was cruel. But I refused to let it define me, no matter how great the cost.
Once upon a time, I made a wish. The world I knew grew wider than the sky and higher than the stars, and I listened to the voice within me, reaching out for freedom.
Once upon a time, my wish became my fate, and my destiny the hardest lesson to learn: kindness may be the most difficult path, but it can save entire kingdoms.”

~My 4.5* Review~
Disclaimer: I was given an e-copy of this book in exchange for nothing more than an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
This is my second flipped fairy tale by Starla Huchton, and I have again loved every page.
In Stillness of the Sky I met Jack(Jacqueline), a 16 year old girl. She's had a pretty rough upbringing; her mother left she was younger and Jack chose to stay with her father, her father is an abusive alcoholic. But even after all she's been through Jack is nothing but kind with everyone she meets.
After Jack overhears that her father owes money and that he is willing to hand her over to work off his debt, she decides that she has to leave; she also hopes that by leaving her father will to stop drinking in order to look after himself.
Jack sets off in search of... a new life? a sense of belonging? her mother? On this journey Jack meets many new people and learns a lot about herself and her family too, she makes some new and interesting friends and shows everyone kindness.
I really like how Starla Huchton has the ability to take a well known fairy tale and completely flip it, make it new but still recognizable. The world that Starla built within Stillness of the Sky to me felt real it was as if I could reach out and touch everything; the castle, the clouds and the characters too.
The story was fantastic from start to finish. It was captivating and I felt as though I was on the journey of self discovery with Jack and her friends too. The characters are great. They are well thought out and realistic. I loved Will, Ro and Jack so much. Jack's ability to remain kind hearted to everyone around her was astounding.
Stillness of the Sky is definitely a story laced with kindness, romance and hope. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Starla does next.
